# Update balance identity
> Update the identity associated with a balance with the Go SDK.

Use `client.LedgerBalance.UpdateIdentity` to link a balance to an [identity](/identities/link-balances).

| Field | Type | Description |
| :----------- | :------- | :---------------------------------- |
| `balanceID` | `string` | Balance ID to update. |
| `IdentityID` | `string` | Identity ID to link to the balance. |
On success, Core returns a confirmation message. Fetch the balance with [get balance](/sdks/go/ledger-balances/get-balance) to verify `identity_id` is set.
